ABES participated in the meeting promoted by Fibra

 

The President of the Republic, Michel Temer, met on September 13 with a delegation of representatives of business entities to hear demands from the productive sector. At the meeting, promoted by the Federation of Industries of the Federal District (Fibra), a letter was delivered with topics that need to be addressed urgently from the point of view of the industry. The highlight was the Capital Digital Technological Park, lines of credit, construction of a ring road and other infrastructure works. ABES was represented at the event by Ricardo de Figueiredo Caldas, from associate Telemikro and member of the entity's board.
 
The letter delivered to Temer highlighted the message: “Brasília has already demonstrated that it has a competitive advantage in areas such as information technologies and the Capital Digital Technological Park will serve as a basis for the emergence of a new industry, stimulating the celebration of cooperation instruments between several partners and entities that should serve as an anchor and attraction factor for new research ventures, training researchers and high technology companies”.
 
In response, President Temer highlighted the importance of supporting the industry as a way of reducing unemployment and moving the economy.
 
In defense of the IT sector
 
ABES and other sectoral entities had already delivered, in June of this year, a document to Michel Temer, in which they point out that, despite the current situation, the use of technologies is configured as an alternative to leverage the economy and social well-being. . In addition, the manifesto also suggested short-term initiatives to leverage Brazil's digital transformation.
 
For the ABES Software Conference 2016, held on September 15, in São Paulo, the entity also invited representatives from the federal government and BNDES to present the policies aimed at the development of the IT sector. Otávio Caixeta, chief of staff at the Information Technology Policy Secretary (Sepin) of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications, who represented Minister Gilberto Kassab, said at the time that technologies and software are fundamental for the functioning of more efficient systems. efficient and transparent in public management and that there is a government effort to make Brazil a better country for business development. “From the correction of the problems with the federal public accounts, we hope to dialogue with the Ministry of Planning to resume the incentives for the software industry”.  
 
Wagner Araujo, Director of Digital Government at the Information Technology Secretariat of the Ministry of Planning (MP), highlighted that the MP's goal is to create a platform for digital citizenship, which guarantees a reduction in operating costs and greater trust in the government, among others. economic, social and political benefits. “We have presented the new concepts to government agencies and we hope that companies and civil society will present suggestions for advancing the Brazilian digital government”.
         
Rafael Moreira, director of the Secretariat for Innovative Technologies and New Business at the MDIC – Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, spoke about the difficulty of the economic approach in relation to industry 4.0. “The Brazilian industry needs to raise its level of competitiveness. We need public policies for companies to invest in RD&I to become more efficient and agile in innovation”.
 
Claudio Figueiredo Coelho Leal, superintendent of the BNDES' Industries and Services Area, spoke about the BNDES' mission and current strategies aimed at innovation. “In the ongoing policy review, we will be calibrating the bank's level of participation in order to allow the entry of other external sources of funding into the processes”. The development programs were addressed by Irecê Fraga Kauss Loureiro, director of IT and Communication at BNDES, who announced that the bank is finalizing a study on IoT.
