ABES, Abfintechs, FecomercioSP, Zetta and other institutions will use the occasion to present an Open Letter and debate the regulatory framework for technology in the country

Seeking regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that provides protection for fundamental rights and guarantees and, at the same time, stimulates innovation and competitiveness of Brazilian companies, the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), the Brazilian Association of Fintechs (Abfintechs), the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP) and the Zetta will deliver to a group of senators, on Wednesday (10/04), a Open Letter with guidelines to guide the debate on AI regulation in Brazil. On that occasion, there will also be a event in the Interlegis Auditorium, in the Senate building, About the subject.

In addition to spokespeople for entities and companies that are part of the movement, such as banks and startups, senators will also be present (such as Izalci Lucas, from PL-DF and Alessandro Vieira, from MDB-SE) and relevant political actors in this debate, such as members of the Special AI Commission of the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).

In the letter to congressmen, the entities highlight the importance of observing the Brazilian legal system as a regulation that already establishes specific rights and duties regarding the use of AI and how the creation of new legislation may conflict with current regulations.

Furthermore, they ask that the vote on Bill (PL) 2,338/23, reported by Senator Eduardo Gomes (PL/TO) — and under consideration by the Internal Temporary Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Brazil (CTIA) — does not occur in a hastily, without considering all its impacts on the market and society.
