With an introduction signed by its CEO, Satya Nadella, Microsoft released a report in which it presents what it has done to help governments and communities during the Covid-19 crisis in Brazil and worldwide, providing technological resources that can accelerate the recovery.

The company recognizes that “the COVID-19 pandemic created an unprecedented economic and health crisis for countries around the world” and explains that it is focused on the contributions that its technology, knowledge and employees can make the greatest impact, considering three priorities :

• Protect public health: use data and technological tools to protect public health;
• Promote an inclusive economic recovery: maintain economic and social activity in the short term and promote an inclusive recovery in the long term;
• Preserve reliable technology: provide protection for cybersecurity, privacy and digital security during the crisis.

In relation to Brazil, projects presented in collaboration with governments, educational institutions, researchers, NGOs and sector partners are presented, both at the federal level and in some states. One of the initiatives involves the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FioCruz), one of the most important health research institutions in Brazil and linked to the Ministry of Health, which uses Microsoft Teams to bring together researchers and scientists across the country to work together on measures related to COVID-19 pandemic and a possible vaccine.

Another example is Microsoft's participation in an AI consortium led by the C3.ai Institute that is requesting research proposals using AI techniques to mitigate the pandemic.

Among other non-profit organizations working to help vulnerable populations, Microsoft supports Gerando Falcões in a set of initiatives, including technology (Microsoft Azure and Office 365), training and donations.
