In an intense week of commitments, the Director of Innovation Development at ABES, Jamile Sabatini Marques, was part of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Business Mission in Colombia, between April 17th and 23rd. The activity was organized by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) in partnership with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and ProColombia.

The initial milestone of the mission occurred on April 17th with the Brazil-Colombia Business Forum, based in Bogotá. The meeting was attended by presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Gustavo Petro, and with the participation of businesspeople from the most renowned and promising economic sectors of both countries. The opening of the forum was made by Jorge Viana, president of ApexBrasil, who emphasized the strategic role that the forum will play in relations between Brazil and Colombia. At this event, several topics were covered with a focus on the fields of technology and services, new industry, energy transition and food security.

Innovation, entrepreneurship and business in Colombia

In the following days, Jamile participated in visits to several companies, innovation centers and entities in the IT sector in Bogotá and Medellín. The intense program included meetings with representatives from the Cámara Colombiana de Informática y Telecomunicaciones (CCIT), visits to Innpulsa Colombia, the innovation and entrepreneurship agency of the Colombian government, the Chamber of Commerce of Medellín – Clúster de Negocios Digitales, the Governación de Antioquia , the company AlgarTech and Ruta Medelín, an innovation and business park, among other activities.

Colombia is Brazil's third main partner in South America, with a trade flow that, in 2023, reached US$ 6.1 billion, a level below the potential of relations between economies the size of Brazil and Colombia, according to an assessment by the Brazilian government.
