In an event celebrating the 28th anniversary of the Association's founding, Finep's financial director highlights credit and grant projects to foster research and innovation
 
The Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) celebrated on the 1st its 28th anniversary with an event in Florianópolis, which brought together entrepreneurs in the sector and representatives of the main technology, R&D and innovation institutions in Santa Catarina. On the occasion, the entity highlighted the performance of the team that works directly in the association, including directors of the Business Verticals, members of the Deliberative Council and former directors. ACATE also delivered tribute plaques to the Financier of Studies and Projects – FINEP, to the Secretary of State for Sustainable Economic Development (SDS) and the Foundation for Research and Innovation Support of the State of Santa Catarina (Fapesc), represented by President Sergio Gargioni.
 
At the meeting, the financial and controlling director of Finep, Claudio Guimarães Junior, spoke about the importance of investing in innovation to impact the productivity and competitiveness of Brazilian companies. “We have a series of credit and subvention programs to encourage research and innovation and we want companies to take advantage of this opportunity to value public investment,” he said. Guimarães highlighted initiatives such as the Direct Investment Program in Innovative Companies, The Inovacred it's the Tecnova; and addressed the need for credit decentralization, integration of tools to foster innovation and investment in education, with a focus on academia.
 
ACATE's board of directors, in partnership with entrepreneurs Valério and Marcelo Gomes, presented the proposal for a new entity's headquarters to the associates, which will be located at SC-401, Km 4, in the Saco Grande neighborhood next to the Primavera Garden Center. The development, which will have a total area of 5,700 square meters and should be delivered between December 2014 and January 2015, will feature common work spaces, an auditorium and meeting rooms, an internal garden, among other differentials. According to the responsible architect, Guilherme Moki, the new headquarters should translate the values and concepts of Santa Catarina technology companies.
