Entrepreneur recalls important achievements for the software sector

In the 1980s, Daniel Boacnin already had a consolidated career in the nascent IT sector in the country, having held the roles of Operations Director of Olivetti for Latin America and Superintendent Director of Panshophic Systems, in addition to founding Softon. His leadership in the software market led him to the Executive Presidency of ABES for the 1998-2000 term. He was also president of the Deliberative Council (2001-2003) and vice-president of the Executive Board (2004-2006). Currently, his son Sérgio Pereira Boacnin follows his example and also actively participates in ABES activities, as a member of the Board and Executive Board.

Among the most important contributions to the sector of Daniel Boacnin, during his tenure, we highlight the approval of the Software Law (No. 9609), the results achieved by the Anti-Piracy Campaign, as well as the change of the ISS calculation base in the city. of São Paulo (Decree no. 39017 of 01/31/2000). In the field of Social Responsibility, in April 2000, he assumed the Vice-Presidency of InfoCri @ nça, an enterprise of technology companies in São Paulo aimed at underprivileged children.

In commemoration of ABES' 30 years, the entrepreneur granted an interview to our portal, to talk about this period and present a current assessment of the sector.

What led you to join and engage in the issues defended by ABES until you reached the presidency of the entity?
As a director of Softon, I have always been on the front lines, since the foundation of my company. I saw in ABES an entity dedicated to defending the interests of our market, always with an attitude that I really liked. I joined ABES in 1991 and gradually expanded my participation until, naturally, I was chosen as president of the entity.

What were the main challenges and achievements of the entity during its management (1998-2000)?
Among the most important contributions in the sector, we highlight the approval of the Software Law (Law 9609), the success and results achieved by the Anti-Piracy Campaign, as well as the change in the ISS calculation basis in the city of São Paulo (Decree no. 39017 of 01/31/2000). These were relevant achievements for a segment that was gaining its space, but that still needed to clarify its differentiated operating characteristics. The Software Law brought a series of benefits to the market.

What are Softon's activities?
Softon develops its activities mainly in serving the financial sector, with solutions for fraud prevention and money laundering prevention, including the development of tailor-made solutions for this segment.

How do you think the Brazilian software and services market will evolve over the next few years?
The Brazilian market has been suffering in recent years with a series of misguided decisions by the most recent governments. It will take time to recover. However, I continue to believe in the perseverance, resistance and creativity of the entrepreneur in the software and services sector in Brazil.
