Yahsat, a satellite operator based in the United Arab Emirates, announced the signing of a contract with Newtec, a specialist in the design, development and manufacture of equipment and technologies for satellite communication, for the delivery of service platforms and operating systems, which will serve as support the company's expansion plans throughout Brazil in 2017.
 
The agreement entered into with Newtec includes its multipurpose VSAT platform Newtec Dialog and its VSAT baseband hubs and user terminals, in addition to the Operating Support System (OSS) and business support system (OSS). Business Support System – BSS). The easy-to-use solution provided by Newtec, in partnership with Tech Mahindra, relies on an Oracle platform, bringing 1st Level resources to the OSS/BSS layer. Tech Mahindra has over 20 years of experience in delivering OSS/BSS solutions to global telecom operators and has a strong presence in Brazil.

Yahsat's third satellite, Al Yah 3, is expected to start operating in early 2017 and will expand the company's commercial Ka-band coverage to 19 more countries and 600 million users across Brazil and Africa. Al Yah 3 will cover more than 95% of the Brazilian population. This new partnership comes as a preparation for these projects under development, and is in line with Yahsat's strategy to conquer wider territories in the markets in which it operates. While Newtec is the preferred partner for the Brazilian market, the Newtec platform can also be used in other territories where Yahsat operates.
