UpToDate's trusted Dengue treatment content is now available to help with the national health emergency

With the significant growth of Dengue cases in Brazil, the Wolters Kluwer Health is providing free online access to evidence-based information about the disease from its Clinical Decision Support (CDS) solution, the UpToDate. Access is available to physicians, even if they are not UpToDate subscribers, as well as the general community by accessing this link.

According to data from Ministry of Health, until the second week of March 2024, more than 1.3 million probable cases of the disease were registered in Brazil, double the volume in the first quarter of 2023. In relation to the incidence coefficient, which represents the risk of occurrence of new cases, the rate so far is above 660 per 100 thousand inhabitants, a value approximately 540% higher than the same period last year.

To date, nine states and 201 Brazilian municipalities have declared a health emergency due to the high volume of cases of the disease. Among them are Acre, Amapá, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

According to Natalia Cabrini, Director of Strategy and Sales at Wolters Kluwer in Brazil, the objective of the initiative is to improve patient care and contribute to reducing the impact of cases in Brazil. “We are closely monitoring the increase in Dengue cases in Brazil and our focus is to find ways to contribute to solving this adversity as quickly as possible. By providing access to this content covering early diagnosis to appropriate treatment. We hope to contribute to reducing the impact of the disease on Brazilian public health”, he explains.
