The extension of the entry into force of the General Data Protection Law (Law 13.709/2018 - LGPD) to January 1, 2021, approved at the remote deliberative session of the Senate on Friday (04/03/2020) intensified the debates on risks that the decision represents the data protection of Brazilians, what the State still needs to provide for the law to come into force and how are the companies' efforts to comply with the legislation. The fines and sanctions were extended to August 2021. The decision still depends on a vote in the House and presidential sanction.

An active participant in the debates on the LGPD, ABES decided to bring together experts from different areas to discuss these changes and what are the perspectives facing the Covid-19 outbreak that has transformed the national scenario. the webinar General Data Protection Law: Changes and Perspectives will take place on April 9, from 6 pm, with free registration and open to all interested parties. Jose Antonio Batista de Moura Ziebarth – Director at the Department of Debureaucratization, Management and Digital Government of the Ministry of Economy. Lawyer, Public Policy Consultant and Professor with over 15 years of experience in the fields of competition, technology & internet and privacy in Latin America, North America and Asia-Pacific. For the past three years, he has been a professor (lecturer) at the University of Melbourne.

Marcos Semolina – Cybersecurity partner at EY, specialist in governance, risk and privacy, professor at FGV, writer, advisor at ISACA, ABINC, CEBDS, vice president of the SmartCity Institute, member of IAPP, founding member of the Brazilian Business Council for Security Cybernetics, director of the Founder Institute accelerator, Endeavor startup mentor and angel investor.

Andriei Gutierrez – Coordinator of the Regulatory Committee and the Brazil Movement, País Digital, both maintained by ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies).
