ABES NEW TIMES Webinar: How the GDPR is Affecting Business in Europe and What We Can Learn for the LGPD

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the European data privacy protection law, which came into force in May 2018 and was considered a tough law for businesses. The legislation created limits on how companies could collect and share data without user consent and imposed fines of up to 4% of a company's global revenue and required changes in data collection practices.

In view of these 2 years of GDPR, what is the balance that European countries make in relation to the fines applied and the changes promoted in organizational practices? What are the pressures coming from civil society? How did the pandemic question the rules established by the GPDR? How has European data protection and privacy legislation influenced the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD)?

These issues will be discussed in the webinar ABES NOVOS TIMES: How is the GDPR affecting business in Europe and what can we learn for the LGPD?, scheduled for August 19, 2020, at 2:30 pm, with a qualified group of international panelists. Master in Comparative Law (MCL) from Stanford University (USA), MBA in International Relations from FGV and Post-Graduation in Civil Law from Escola Paulista da Magistratura. Author of the book “Direito ao Esquecimento”.

Leonardo Martins – Founder and CTO of Pontus Vision, an Anglo-Brazilian company that offers open source tools for data protection. Executive MBA at London Business School.

Punam Tiwari - Head of Legal UK, Europe and South Africa and Data Protection Officer at EXL Service. Oxford Institute of Legal Practice.

MODERATION:
