Gustavo Franco, one of the forerunners of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) in the world, reinforces VTEX's technical team and confirms the trend of migration of professionals from big techs to high-growth companies

VTEX, a digital commerce platform for large companies and retailers, a leader in accelerating the transformation of commerce in Latin America and now in global expansion, announces the hiring of Gustavo Franco, one of the forerunners of incident management programs in the world, to improve even more the reliability of its platform. Franco assumes the direction of Site Reliability Engineering – SRE (or Site Reliability Engineering, in free translation) and will be based in California.

With the arrival of Franco, VTEX further strengthens its technical team to continue actively contributing to the expansion of the digital commerce ecosystem globally, through increasingly complete, secure and efficient experiences.

Thus, the platform also reinforces its commitment to deliver maximum performance, speed, availability and security to users, mainly due to the significant increase in demand in digital commerce seen in recent years, as well as in special events such as Black Friday.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Franco has over 20 years of experience in the technology market. He was one of the first professionals in the world market focused on SRE. It developed, for example, the infrastructure responsible for running the search engine of Google's main services, as well as materials that are considered the founding contents about SRE. He also led one of the teams responsible for streaming the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“The great attraction for accepting the challenge was the opportunity to be part of the expansion of a company with Brazilian DNA. Geraldo Thomaz, founder and co-CEO of VTEX, and his team have achieved something unimaginable for many Brazilians who work in the technology market. I want to contribute and be part of the growth of a company founded in Brazil, and which is already present in 32 countries, in addition to continuing to learn from this extremely talented team”, says Gustavo Franco, SRE Engineering Director at VTEX.

The hiring of Franco, who has lived in the United States for almost 12 years, reinforces VTEX's leading role in the international scenario and confirms a trend of migration of professionals from big techs to high-growth companies.
