The company's solutions improve user experience and facilitate app and service deployments, as well as enabling full network visibility

VMware announced at Mobile World Congress 2019 the expansion of its WAN (software defined SD-WAN) integrations and shared details of new and expanded partnerships focusing on collaboration with ADVA Optical Networking, Telco Systems, RingCentral, SevOne and Plixer.

VMware remains focused on increasing its technology integrations to align with the increasingly agile digital needs of companies. So, to facilitate interoperability between current and future technologies, VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud's scalable framework allows customers to integrate the security technology, cloud infrastructure and network management of their choice. The new and expanded collaborations announced at the event provide businesses and service providers with easy deployment and improve visibility across all of their networks.

“Customers are abandoning legacy network infrastructure at a very fast pace for the flexibility, reliability and security that SD-WAN offers. Due to its cloud architecture, the solution offers seamless integration with an extensive ecosystem of IT companies, bridging the gap between the needs of today and the demands of the future,” says Sanjay Uppal, Vice President and General Manager of the Business Unit. from VMware's VeloCloud. “The integrations have innovative partners in their respective spaces and, together, we hope to enable our mutual customers to accelerate their network transformation journey”, adds the executive.

Simplifying delivery, service management, virtual applications and data analytics

VMware SD-WAN now integrates with ADVA Optical Networking, a company founded with a focus on innovation and oriented to helping its customers succeed; and Telco Systems, a provider of networking and virtualization technologies, including carrier Ethernet and NFV solutions, to provide universal customer equipment (uCPE) solutions that consolidate multiple services onto a single x86 platform. They can also use orchestration tools to manage the full lifecycle of virtual network functions (VNFs) – not just to instantiate services, but also to service the chain of those functions.

End-user experience is even more critical for unified communications as a service (UcaaS), where low voice latency and high quality are required for successful implementation. The company collaborated with RingCentral, a global leader in cloud communication and collaboration solutions, to prioritize traffic at the edge of a branch with a single click to deliver the highest quality real-time voice applications possible. VMware SD-WAN recognizes this traffic and ensures that voice applications are privileged on all transport links.

Currently deployed in nearly 100,000 branches around the world, the tool has achieved an average score of nearly four even on a single broadband link that has significant packet loss, according to the Mean Opinion Score (MOS Score). This means that users' voice quality is almost as high as a face-to-face conversation.

Commenting on this offering, Curtis Peterson, Senior Vice President of Cloud Operations at RingCentral, said, “Many organizations are implementing SD-WAN as a leading technology to ensure higher levels of quality of service and availability. Our ability to serve enterprises, CSPs and MSPs with the delivery of the highest quality media applications makes this adoption a very robust option for branch offices.”

VMware will also enable companies to correlate SD-WAN information with network analytics from multiple sources through the following integrations, by partnering with SevOne, which provides the comprehensive, flexible and scalable network and infrastructure management capabilities that large organizations need to make smooth transitions from physical to virtual environments. Plixer, another partner, provides a network security and intelligence platform. The solution allows customers to gain visibility into traffic, SD-WAN, cloud applications, security events and user behavior, supporting fast and efficient incident responses as well as actionable data to guide businesses through event detection. to the analysis and mitigation of root causes.
