Visa, a global payment technology company, opens applications for the second class of its startup acceleration program in 2018. A group of 14 companies already started the process in April this year. Now, candidates will be selected to participate in the program in the second semester. Applications are open until July 8th and can be done through the website. www.visa.com.br/programadeaceleracao.

Visa's Acceleration Program seeks two distinct profiles of startups. Startups still in the embryonic stage (classified as Start) are chosen; and those that are already established in the market (called Growth). Both go through a process of immersion, bootcamp and strategizing. For Start startups, the program lasts three months. As for the Growth initiatives, the total period of acceleration and incubation is four months, with a month of immersion in Silicon Valley, in the United States.

Percival Jatobá, Vice President of Products, Solutions and Innovation at Visa, says that he has been positively surprised by the quality of the projects presented in these two years of the acceleration program, which reflects the evolution and development of the Brazilian innovation ecosystem. “We have always known about the intellectual wealth of Brazilian entrepreneurs, in addition to the fact that Brazil is now the leading country in Latin America in terms of fintechs, especially in the digital banking and insurance segments. For Visa, it has been not only rewarding, but also a real learning experience to be able to work alongside these startups. Come and participate in the Visa Acceleration Program and, together with us, transform the world's means of payment scenario, since approximately 30% of Brazilian fintechs are already operating outside Brazil (data from Fintech Radar, Finnovista, 2018)”.

The acceleration program was born in 2017, and has grown compared to last year. In 2018, up to 30 companies will be selected. Visa's investment in services and technologies that participants can receive will also be greater, reaching up to R$ 205,000 in benefits. Both stages rely on the expertise of one of the largest innovation centers in Silicon Valley, GSVlabs, Visa's partner in this project and represented in Brazil by Kyvo Design-Driven Innovation.
