USP's goal is to provide services through a web interface, so that units, departments and laboratories can manage servers, storage and network through a portal, in a simple and agile way. The expectation is that administrative staff, professors and researchers will have a platform available that will allow them to create computing environments themselves without any bureaucratic delay or to the detriment of purchase, physical installation and activation.
With this planning, Citrix presented a solution that ranges from the XenServer Hypervisor Operating System, connected to the Cloud Platform, for the creation and availability of machines for users, and the Cloud Portal, a Web system for user interaction in the Cloud.
Conducted by Solve System, Citrix partner, the implementation will be carried out in two datacenters and serves all units and areas of teaching and research. The infrastructure supports the bodies that centralize USP's computing systems.
“The adoption of electronic media in face-to-face pedagogical practices, simultaneously with the availability of educational content in the form of digital media, is a reality that must be considered in the face of a generation of digital native students. The decision to implement a project of this magnitude, pioneering and daring, is one of several strategic decisions to make USP a captive place among the main universities in the world”, highlights the dean João Grandino Rodas.
