For greater productivity of its employees and greater assertiveness of its processes, the institution migrated its projects and updated its source code management platform

UniCEUB, a reference for higher education in the Midwest region for over 50 years, had the support of Brasoftware, in the update of its platform responsible for managing source codes and collaboration, Team Foundation Server 2012 (TFS), for the Microsoft's most current solution, Azure DevOps Server.

According to Sérgio Cozzetti, Development Manager at UniCEUB, the update of the solution was necessary since the system used demanded efforts in administration, and therefore, a greater number of professionals and a greater time spent on management and maintenance. While the new solution within Azure, guarantees a considerable increase in productivity, which allowed employees to focus on other functions focused on software development, without having to worry about dealing with issues related to performance, administration and availability of servers. "On average, using the older model of the platform, updates took about 40 hours to update our code, which ended up affecting our productivity. With Azure DevOps, the whole process takes around 8 hours. 32 hours we gained to dedicate ourselves to other priorities", he said.

The migration project took just one month to complete and 12 of the institution's production environments were migrated to Azure. "The entire process went very well. The implementation of Azure DevOps Server was done very quickly and without impacting the UniCEUB project schedule, and during the project we included access to Microsoft support services already covered under the customer's contract. ", completes George Lacerda, Services Manager at Brasoftware.

In addition, Brasoftware was also responsible for training groups of UniCEUB professionals on the features of the new version of the tool. In all, the workshop offered lasted 8 hours with three groups divided into architects, developers and managers. "The training resolved all doubts regarding the implemented solution. What also contributed to this was the fact that the tool has a more intuitive infrastructure, which allowed everyone who was already used to the older software to adapt quickly", concluded Cozzetti. .

For the next steps, UniCEUB adds that it is planning, together with Brasoftware, improvements in the test automation sector due to the large number of selection processes carried out at the institution and the need to develop a way to optimize these procedures. "We are excited about this new challenge, since we have in our portfolio a series of solutions such as artificial intelligence, RPA, among others, which help our customers to be more productive and often achieve better results in their business," concluded Lacerda. .
