Gamux, Unicamp's game research and development center, hosts for the 5th consecutive year the Global Game Jam (GGJ), an international event in which students, aspirants and professionals from the game sector come together to produce a complete game in 48 hours, in addition to to expand their networks of contacts, seek new talents and exchange experiences and production techniques.

“Producing a game from scratch in 48 hours represents a great challenge for professionals in the sector, as it invites them to review and maximize their development processes. It also represents a great opportunity for students and game fans who would like to make a career, but still don't know the area very well. In addition, the area has high growth potential: Brazil is currently estimated as the 11th largest gaming market in the world, and Campinas, the largest technological hub in Latin America.” analyzes Matheus Schmidt, general coordinator of Gamux.

GGJ is used worldwide by large companies in the segment as a tool to discover trends and professionals with interesting portfolios, so the list of sponsors includes giants such as Intel, Facebook, Defold, Unity and Firefox.

The theme of upcoming games is announced to all Global Game Jam locations simultaneously. From there, each team has 48 hours to develop a functional game that uses the theme creatively. All games are published on the event's website, with a download link. The proposal is to allow participants to develop their network and still show their talents in the field of game development.
Registration for Global Game Jam in Campinas is free, made through the Gamux website.
