Twilio and Chelsea Unveil “One in a Twilion” Award Celebrating Women’s Contributions to Technology
THE Twilio (NYSE: TWLO), the customer engagement platform that delivers real-time, personalized experiences for today’s leading brands, announces a multi-year partnership with Chelsea Football Club, which will act as the club’s official supplier.
Twilio to increase Chelsea fan engagement in stadium and through digital experiences using Customer Data Platform (CDP) Twilio Segment. By leveraging its efforts through Twilio Segment, the club will gain better insights into its 615 million fan base worldwide, creating a comprehensive view of each fan’s interaction with Chelsea. With access to this data, it will be able to create highly personalized experiences. For example, over time, Chelsea will be able to reward fans for their engagement by offering promotions when they enter the stadium, personalizing the content they see featuring their favorite Chelsea player, and highlighting areas of the stadium that have the best snacks to eat during halftime. These improvements will help fans feel more connected to the club, fostering stronger relationships and proving invaluable as the organization expands internationally.
As the club continues to grow and strengthen women’s football, its partnership with Twilio will play a key role in that mission. The collaboration will enhance fan engagement through personalized updates on matches and ticket availability, while also tailoring web and app experiences to better serve its fans. To mark the partnership announcement, Twilio is launching the “One in a Twilion” an award that honors the impact of women on technology teams. Entries will be open to the public, encouraging nominations from women in technology who have enabled outstanding work and results for their teams and businesses. The winner and three runners-up, selected by some of Twilio’s female leaders, will be announced on March 5, 2025, in the lead-up to International Women’s Day.
Peter Bell, Vice President of Marketing EMEA at Twilio, said: “This exciting new partnership will empower Chelsea Football Club to connect with its fans, enabling powerful and personalized engagement both at home and away. At Twilio, we are committed to supporting Chelsea in enabling its fans to feel even closer to the club. We are excited to see the transformative impact of this partnership in the years to come.”
Phil Lynch, Chief Digital Officer at Chelsea Football Club, said: “We are delighted to welcome Twilio to the Chelsea family and look forward to engaging more deeply with our global fanbase through their customer data technology. For many fans, regardless of their geographic location, digital connectivity is what brings them closer to the club, our players and our history. Twilio’s leading work in customer engagement will help enrich these fan experiences and deliver a greater level of personalization and connection to the club for our global fanbase.”

About Chelsea Football Club
Chelsea Football Club is one of the world's leading football clubs and its men's national team were the winners of the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Brazilian side Palmeiras in the final in Abu Dhabi, which was held in 2022 due to the pandemic. This success followed the team's second UEFA Champions League triumph in 2021, with victory over Manchester City in Porto.
Founded in 1905, Chelsea are London's most centrally located football club, based at the iconic 40,000-capacity Stamford Bridge stadium. Nicknamed 'The Blues', the club lifted the Champions League trophy for the first time in 2012 and have also won the Premier League five times, the FA Cup eight times, the Football League Cup five times, the UEFA Europa League twice, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup twice, the UEFA Super Cup twice and the Football League Championship once, in 1955.
Triumphs in the 2021 Champions League and Super Cup ensured Chelsea became the first club to win four major UEFA club competitions twice, following their previous successes in those two competitions as well as the Europa League and Cup Winners' Cup.
Chelsea's women's team have enjoyed great success, winning the FA Women's Super League for the fifth consecutive year and seventh time overall in 2024. The FA Women's Cup has been won on five occasions. The team has also won the FA Women's League Cup twice and reached the UEFA Women's Champions League final in 2021.
As well as boasting some of the world’s most recognisable players, Chelsea have also invested in their future with a state-of-the-art academy and training centre in Cobham, Surrey. Since the Academy building opened in 2008, the club have won seven FA Youth Cups, back-to-back UEFA Youth League titles in 2015 and 2016, and the U23 and U18 Premier League domestic championships, most recently in 2019/20 and 2017/18 respectively.
The Chelsea Foundation has one of the most extensive community initiatives in sport, helping to improve the lives of children and young people around the world.
