With the growing offer of applications in the cloud, Oracle has been enabling companies around the world with agile and efficient tools for business. The Business Intelligence Cloud Service – BICS is a platform that can gather information from different sources used by companies, quickly relating them to generate insights, helping managers to understand scenarios and make decisions quickly.

The platform facilitates the creation of analyses, combines data from any source with information security. One of the main advantages for executives is the visualization and interaction with information at all times, supported by mobile devices.

Experiences in Brazilian companies have already begun to emerge. One of the examples is Trombini, one of the largest paper packaging industries in the country. In 2015, the company underwent a restructuring and the transition to the cloud represented a step towards modernity in business. With this perspective, it acquired the Business Intelligence Cloud Services (BICS) solution and today the company's case is already a reference for Latin America.

BICS was the company's first investment in the new technology. “The cloud is a path of no return. All future solution offerings will be on this model. To use BICS, the biggest challenge is to change the habit of executives who are familiar with information distributed in other media, such as spreadsheets, for example, to access information in another format, in a structured and flexible way”, comments Anibal Tebet, manager of Trombini IT.

The project stages

The project started in February 2015, with the demand for a market intelligence solution that could meet the areas of controllership and supplies. The objective was to give managers a simple view of the company's performance in the creation, maintenance and availability of information, in addition to being secure in access and meeting the mobility requirement. The solution should allow accessing the ERP database, along with other sources, such as spreadsheets, integrating and generating executive information on mobile platforms in a simple way.

In Trombini's experience, the ease of creating and maintaining dashboards by the end user was a differential of the solution. IT made the process easier, empowering users to create and publish.

In addition to delivering the fundamental factors for Trombini's need, Oracle's BICS was technically and financially viable. “There was no competition for easy development and simpler use. Implementation did not face any delays and all security requirements were met, with additional package updates taking place transparently.”

To facilitate development, Oracle provides a free test environment, which is one of the solution's differentials. This offering from Oracle allows companies to understand the advantages of adopting the new technology.

“Companies are already using the cloud to innovate business as organizations generate massive amounts of business information. However, in general, they are still not taking advantage of all the opportunities for insights they generate”, comments Priscila Siqueira, vice president of Business Intelligence and Analytics, Oracle for Latin America.
