New versions increase control and speed in collaborative construction workflows

Trimble announced three new versions of its software for structural engineering, fabrication and construction teams: Tekla Structures 2018, Tekla Structural Designer 2018 and Tekla Tedds 2018. Buildable BIM for steel, precast and reinforced concrete stakeholders, including designers, detailers and fabricators, concrete industry contractors, general contractors and structural engineers.

“We develop software solutions that provide increased synergy for our customers in their daily activities” says Ville Rousu, responsible for Tekla software development at Trimble. "Trimble's focus on technological advancement throughout the entire structural BIM workflow, from design through fabrication and construction, enables us to deliver the BIM tools that contribute to the transformation of the construction industry."

Tekla Structures 2018 delivers faster 3D modeling processes, more accurate detailing, better change control, faster production of drawings with less effort, and workflow-related efficiencies. The new version also supports point clouds, allowing you to deliver coordinated, buildable designs that fit seamlessly into existing structures. Drawing improvements include faster production of drawings with less effort and a faster process of reviewing and adding content. The collaborative workflow from design and analysis to detailing and fabrication is simpler, regardless of structural material.

Tekla Structural Designer 2018 provides new features and improvements that focus on the productivity of the structural design workflow. For example, the new rigorous, non-linear concrete slab design feature automates load simulation throughout construction to help save engineering design time. Enhanced analysis options for concrete and steel offer greater control and faster analysis. The new version also supports Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish attachments within the European standard.

Tekla Tedds 2018 introduces a variety of new calculations to significantly increase the productivity of structural and civil engineers. The easy-to-use software offers a quality-assured library that makes code-compliant calculations visible for review and validation.

A growing number of construction professionals, governments and landlords around the world are embracing BIM technologies and processes. Projects around the world, from homes and bridges to factories and skyscrapers, are using Trimble structural BIM solutions. The continued development of Tekla BIM solutions demonstrates Trimble's commitment to innovation in structural engineering, offsite prefabrication and on-site efficiency.
