New features aim to protect people accessing public or private generative AI services
Trend Micro, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has added functionality to its AI-powered platform to protect organizational use of new technology and better manage risks associated with mass adoption of AI tools.
“Major technological advances always bring new cyber risks. Like the cloud and all the other technology leaps we have secured, the promise of the AI era will only be powerful if it is protected. Our latest updates provide security teams with efficiency and analytical guidance for using AI,” highlights Eva Chen, co-founder and CEO of Trend Micro.
The features introduced will protect people accessing public or private generative AI services across organizations. The new elements of platform Trend Vision One™ – Zero Trust Secure Access (ZTSA) ensure Trend's leadership as the first provider to focus on the security of AI services, as well as the people who use them, by providing:
- Centralized management of employee access when using AI applications;
- Immediate inspection to prevent data leaks and malicious infiltrations;
- Content filtering to meet compliance requirements;
- Defense against attacks from Large Language Model (“Great Language Model”, in free translation).
Building on years of using Artificial Intelligence to better protect customers, newly released features in Trend Vision One™ help manage the risks inherent in using this technology. They arrive as additions to proven functionality to contextualize alerts and decode complex scripts, powering threat hunting queries that can help eradicate credential phishing, recommending personalized response actions, and more.
“In addition to establishing and refining AI governance policies, security teams need effective mechanisms to identify, monitor, and implement controls for the use of new technology at a personal and enterprise level,” highlights Dave Gruber, chief analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group™, a renowned business and technology consultancy. Trend advocates a robust and responsible Artificial Intelligence model and believes that all security providers must ensure that technologies are developed and used in an ethical and transparent manner. This cyber risk associated with AI also applies to security vendors.
As a partner with international law enforcement agencies, Trend Micro is proud to have provided guidance to the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on potential revisions to its Zero Trust Maturity Model (ZTMM), which helps organizations to ensure new technological integrations in their projects. Furthermore, Trend is a signatory to the “Technological Agreement to Combat the Misleading Use of AI in the 2024 Elections”, to combat disinformation.
