Opportunities are essential for business growth and point the way to the future. Based on this premise, ABES SOFTWARE CONFERENCE 2019, which took place on October 14 in São Paulo, promoted the panel “Measuring Opportunities and Businesses”, with the presence of Luciano Ramos, research manager and consultant at IDC, and the moderation by Francisco Camargo, president of the ABES deliberative council.

Luciano Ramos used data from the most recent edition of the Market Study - Overview and Trends, published by ABES and IDC, which point to the fact that Brazil occupies the 7th place in the world ranking of investment in ICT and that the country has been gradually maturing and transforming investments in telecom, IT and infrastructure, making them more significant .

For Ramos, even in an adverse scenario, the IT market, specifically the software and services segments continued to gain space and investments. “Companies are looking for IT solutions for their competitiveness and business expansion. We have observed that medium and large companies have been moving to become even more qualified in IT”, he explained.

According to Ramos, 2.3% of GDP in Brazil in 2018 was allocated to IT investments. “In Brazil, the highest concentration of IT spending is in the Southeast with 60.4%, followed by the South with 13.3%. Brazilian companies face important challenges to remain competitive within the local and global scenarios. These challenges drive digital transformation in its multiple aspects: leadership, omniexperience, information, business model and source of work”.

Thus, the conclusion is that digital transformation generates great benefits for the business, but brings important challenges. “Among the challenges, we can point out the increased proximity of IT with the business areas, in search of their engagement in the digital transformation process. It is necessary to adapt processes and business models so that they are aligned with the Digital Transformation strategy and establish a new level of deliveries, reducing the time to launch new solutions and introducing superior levels of customer experience”, lists Luciano Ramos.

In his final remarks, Luciano highlighted that digital transformation means finding “new ways of doing business with digital skills and finding new needs to maximize the use of existing information. Data and applications, including mission-critical ones, are moving to the cloud and incorporating analytics and AI capabilities. Therefore, it is necessary for entrepreneurs to rethink their investments to adapt their negotiations to this reality”, he concluded.
