Totvs, through its innovation laboratory in Silicon Valley, Totvs Labs, which started to act as an incubator for companies of disruptive technologies, announced the result of the joint work carried out with DNA Shopper, a Brazilian mobility startup for the Retail. The initiative will offer the sector a complete solution of Beacons, microlocation technology, which aims to revolutionize the consumer experience: Totvs Locl.

Totvs Labs has been testing Beacons for a year, having even evaluated the benefits of the tool's interaction with different mobile devices. However, in order to offer the technology to the Brazilian market, it sought a local partner that, like the company, had a similar vision of the sector's needs in the country. DNA Shopper, in turn, was looking for an organization with deep knowledge of the segment and credibility, such as Totvs. Collaboration between the companies accelerated the development of the tool.

The microlocation sensors in the Beacons make it possible for people to interact with the real world through mobile devices, such as smartphones and smartwatches, bringing objects to life and transforming them into powerful sources of information for companies in different sectors of the industry. With technology, organizations can send a message with tips or information about a product viewed by the customer and even a discount coupon. For this, the user must have an application installed on the device that allows this interaction.

“The speed with which novelties are developed and offered to the market is fundamental in view of the dynamism of the Information Technology sector. Therefore, more and more companies have established partnerships in search of a common goal: to accelerate the offer of innovative tools,” says Mário Almeida, founder and CEO of DNA Shopper.

“The alliance with DNA Shopper is the first of its kind in the company. Through the innovation laboratory, we will incubate companies with disruptive technologies in order to collaboratively develop solutions that meet new market demands”, says Vicente Goetten, director of Totvs Labs.

The result of the alliance is a complete Beacon solution for retail, which includes the micro-location tool, which will be installed in products or in a specific department, a web platform for the creation and management of campaigns and an application for mobile devices.

With technology, companies will have access to an infinity of data that, today, are the privilege of e-commerce. It will be possible to send recommendations and interact with customers in the offline world based on their browsing data, making it possible, for example, to offer a discount coupon to the consumer who viewed a certain product in the e-commerce and went to the physical store to prove it. Or, still, present important information to the customer who is close to a product or a department, according to the strategy adopted by the retailer.

“One of the challenges for technology expansion is the need for consumers to determine which companies will be able to access their data and communicate with it. Once this barrier is overcome, companies in the physical world will be able to extract relevant information and provide a unique and unforgettable experience to consumers, who will likely become regular customers of their brand and products. In this way, we are bringing the Internet of Things (IoT) in a practical way to our customers”, concludes Goetten.

The Beacons solution developed by Totvs in partnership with DNA Shopper already has two pilot projects in Brazil. Available for Android and IOS, and starting in June for Apple Watch, the application can be customized according to the customer's needs and, if the retailer already has one, can integrate it with the other functionalities of the solution through API's.
