Interview with Ricardo Auriemo, director of Inovapar

Digital transformation is also underway in the healthcare area, leading companies operating in this segment, such as hospitals, laboratories and clinics, to reflect on their investments in IT, given that technologies impact people, processes and the entire environment. the business strategy and, mainly, in patient care and medical treatment.

On this topic, the ABES Portal interviewed Ricardo Auriemo, director of Inovapar, a consulting, projects and technology integration company focused on the health area. The executive highlighted that there is “a unique context of complex interaction between the participants of the health system with low fault tolerance, demanding a high degree of reliability of the IT solutions used”. What are the healthcare challenges for IT companies?
The biggest challenge is the weight that the health area represents today for society in terms of investments, as costs have increased in Brazil and in the world, due to factors such as the aging of the population, the greater life expectancy of people , the increase in the incidence of chronic diseases, and the pressure for the adoption of new technologies. Given this complexity, one of the main ways to increase the productivity of the health system as a whole, both in public and private organizations, is represented by information technology.

What is the role of IT in the healthcare industry?
In the healthcare area, information technology should be used to capture data in order to transform it into valuable information to be provided to users of a particular company. Imagine the amount of data that could potentially be generated on a given subject, such as the health of the elderly, for example. How much information is possible to obtain about the health of a single individual or to infer about the health conditions of a certain portion of the population. IT impacts all processes and, therefore, there is a greater complexity involved with the adoption of technological innovations, which reach different audiences: doctors, managers, employees, patients, suppliers and even public or control bodies, as a complementary health agency. Capturing information and integrating systems in the health area is quite complex and challenging.

How does IT contribute to this improvement?
The technology offers the possibility to improve decision making in terms of medical management, whether in prediction, prevention or treatment. Prediction is already a reality, for example, through genetic tests that indicate disease trends, an area of medicine that is evolving, although not yet as prominent. Nowadays, the doctor has such a huge amount of information that it would be difficult for him to deal with this volume of data without the help of information technology.

Another fundamental aspect of IT is the management of resources, especially considering that this money is scarce and that health services, in general, are negatively evaluated by the population. People demand better services and fault tolerance is low as errors can pose serious risks. In this way, it is essential to use resources to improve patient care, speed up diagnosis, provide the best treatments, implement health campaigns, for example.

What other aspects mark the complexity of the health sector?
The growing obligation to direct more investments to health and generate more efficiency comes up against the fact that each case is a case, that is, each medical care is unique, each individual is different and has a specific situation of their health conditions. In other words, there is a need to individualize and humanize patient care and, at the same time, there is a search for standardization, efficiency in processes and cost reduction. They are two opposing forces that need to be harmonized. That's why business rules are complex.

What are the main solutions offered by Inovapar in the Brazilian market?
Inovapar has a range of management solutions aimed mainly at diagnostic services, such as laboratory tests, genetics, imaging, including combined diagnosis, which unites a series of information from several laboratory centers. We also have solutions that facilitate the interaction between patients and the institution providing services, between the doctor and the patients. We highlight the Web Portal of results, reports and images, which is being very well evaluated by the market. The important thing is that this platform can be integrated with the operational management software that runs in the place where the doctor attends, that is, where the information will be analyzed by the specialist. We also have mobility technologies, which make this information accessible anywhere. In each client, we implement a philosophy that goes beyond the simple sale of software, as we analyze the existing situation in a particular company and verify how to optimize the available resources, including.

What are the differentials of Inovapar's team of employees?
Our team is made up of developers, but we also have employees who came from the health area, who have already experienced the operational routine of a laboratory, a clinic. In other words, Inovapar has a multidisciplinary team, which includes pharmacists, biomedical professionals, specialists in clinical analysis, among other professions. The human resources part is vital for us. We are very pleased to receive recognition from our employees for several years through the Great Place to Work survey, in which the Touch Health group, of which Inovapar is a part, appears among the best IT companies to work for in Brazil. .

What are the distribution channels used by Inovapar?
The company operates with direct sales and also has representatives in different regions of Brazil. We also highlight the partnership with GE Healthcare, through which it offers Inovapar solutions as part of its portfolio. At the same time, we are an approved distribution channel for GE's software in the Brazilian market.
