Largest telecommunications and IT event in AL has institutional support from ABES

Among the main subjects that will be discussed at Futurecom, the largest IT and Telecommunications event in Latin America, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro from October 21 to 24, 2013 and which has the support of ABES, is 4G technology, its operation, advantages and disadvantages, as well as the traffic concentration of this technology in the World Cup host cities. The approval of the Marco Civil da Internet, a project that regulates the rights and duties of web users, is also on the schedule, even for the current moment in which the government announced measures to increase security on the network after accusations of espionage in the country.
 
The opportunities of M2M (Machine to Machine) technology directly linked to the “Internet of Things” will also be discussed, in addition to the challenges and opportunities between OTTs (Over the Top) services and telecommunications operators.
 
The opening ceremony of the event will be attended by ministers, presidents of regulatory agencies, as well as important executives from Brazil and Latin America. The presidents of telephone operators will also be present at the event: Antônio Carlos Valente (Telefônica/Vivo), Rodrigo Abreu (TIM), Zeinal Bava (OI), Carlos Zenteno (Claro), José Formoso (Embratel), Amos Genish (GVT), Luis Alexandre (Algar) and Gokul Hemmady (Nextel).
 
Among the authorities already confirmed are the Minister of Communications, Paulo Bernardo, the president of the Science and Technology Commission, Paulo Abi-Ackel, and the president of Anatel, João Rezende, in addition to the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of Colombia, Diego Molano, and Supertel Ecuador Telecommunications Superintendent, Fabián Jaramillo.
 
In its 15th edition, the event will have an exhibition area – Business Trade Show – of 21 thousand square meters and more than 300 exhibitors, in addition to a congress with six simultaneous rooms and more than 280 national and international speakers. 12,000 participants from 48 countries are expected.
