The NGO Generation Brasil is iFood's new partner in the Potência Tech project, a professional training platform for the technology area launched by the company in 2021. Through this project, iFood will co-finance the training of 500 young people by Generation, focusing on low-income and underrepresented groups in the technology area, such as women, black people, indigenous people, LGBTQIAP+ or people with disabilities, for example.
The partnership is part of the Potência Tech platform, launched by iFood to promote free technology courses and job opportunities, with the goal of training 25 thousand people by 2025 and strengthening the tech ecosystem in the country. “We are excited to partner with Generation Brasil on this initiative, as we believe that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to the growth and success of the technology sector. We want to ensure that everyone has access to the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in this constantly evolving market”, says Roberta Piozzi, ESG manager at Educação iFood.
“The union with a giant in the sector like iFood encourages us and strengthens our mission”, says Adriana Carvalho, CEO of Generation Brasil. “In our classes, we aim to have at least 50% of women and 60% of black and brown people, in addition to LGBTQIAP+ people. It is part of our mission to contribute to the qualification and diversity of the job market in the technology sector, and it is essential that companies, especially those with a major impact on society like iFood, take an active role in this agenda”, he adds.
In addition to Generation Brasil, organizations such as Oracle, EF Education First, Womakers Code and DIO, among others, are also part of the Potência Tech platform. “Seeing different players in the sector working with the same objective of education and inclusion in the job market is very rewarding. This union will make a difference in the future”, analyzes Adriana Carvalho.
According to a report by Brasscom (Association of Information and Communication Technology and Digital Technologies Companies), from December 2022, there are 1.1 million professionals in the sector in Brazil. Of this total, 61.4% are men. In racial terms, only 11.6% of professionals are black women and 18.4% are black men.
The program
The Generation Brasil bootcamp that is part of Potência Tech is a three-month training program for entry-level positions in Technology. The course does not require prior programming knowledge, and participants will learn, in addition to technical skills, important socio-behavioral skills to prepare themselves for the job market.
Throughout the Generation program, participants receive socio-emotional support, mentoring, as well as various initiatives to promote employability at the end of the course.
