More and more technologies demand the best from people. This is because we currently have a large quantity of data, or “Big Data”, which - through Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions - challenge us to transform them into valuable information to support the strategic and tactical management of organizations.

This joint work - of technologies and human intelligence - can generate positive changes in the activities of each professional and in the performance of companies. But there needs to be an awareness of that. And I go further - we must desire and encourage these transformations. We must be the protagonists, sponsors and owners of these necessary change projects, in this bet on the digital transformation of business.

The focus has also shifted, along with the organization of tasks. Not long ago, the data and information holders were the managers. Now, the question is: "What to do with all this offer?", "Why?", "For what?". This new stage is much more interesting and challenging and requires the teams to get closer and more integrated.

It is not a matter of always “running” and promoting or accepting news, but of building processes with innovations focused on objectives that, ultimately, aim at the general well-being of society and business. This requires more calm than haste. More balance than radicalism. More associative depth than superficial and fragmented analyzes.

People and technologies must generate collaborative relationships. In this sense, on the technology side, it is important to consider usability - or design - as an essential element. On the other hand, that of people, it is necessary to recognize that there are many more opportunities for intelligence and less need for exhaustive collections and memorizations, from the infinite tools that we have at our disposal.

And with that, we need better and better managers - with ethical principles, common sense, energy, multidisciplinary vision, capable of working as a team and asking the right questions. They must combine analytical qualities with qualified intuitions and find the best ways.

Both in the private economy - with “coopetition”, a strategy that combines competitive and cooperative characteristics for business - as well as in the public area - based on a better perception and meeting so many demands - the strategic and tactical management of information is a fundamental component.

In the end, each of us becomes more and more a manager. We definitely need to understand that technologies, like BI and Analytics, do not work alone and that talents are indispensable to promote innovations with the use of such tools.

Technologies allow us to be more creative, informed, integrated with business and the market - and their effectiveness depends on us.
