In 2017, the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) launched the call for proposals for the Startup Industry Connection Program, when industries posed their problems and startups came forward to solve them. “The way out for the resumption of growth and expansion of the country's competitiveness and productivity lies in innovation. And it was with this perspective that the Startup Industry Connection Program was born, as a new alternative for innovation. The Program is the bridge between industries and startups, which together produce intelligence and solutions for a more competitive Brazil”, explains Guto Ferreira, President of ABDI.

Now, after ABDI's participation in Fiware in Portugal, one of the biggest events in Europe on technology, a public notice was announced with the Portuguese Government, to connect Brazilian and Portuguese startups and industries. “An announcement will be made between the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) and our Portuguese partners, where industries enter through one door and startups through another and both are connected”, says the President of ABDI. Portugal was chosen for this partnership due to our historical relationship and, mainly, for having a great ecosystem, with strong startups. In addition to facilitating union and increasing trade, the country can be considered a gateway to Europe, making Brazilian entrepreneurs export their solutions.

The Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) seeks to connect the two ecosystems of industrial innovation and according to Leonardo Reisman, Head of ABDI's International Advisory Board, the idea is to launch a bilateral agenda between the Portuguese Government's Industry Secretariat and ABDI , in which the main object of this cooperation will be the launch of the call for bids for the Startup Industry Connection. “We are building this agreement and the idea is to return to Portugal in June, to carry out the signatures and establish a launch date”, explains Reisman.
