Techtools Ventures, a Venture Capital (VC) firm focused on managing equity and innovation network in hospitals, signed an institutional cooperation agreement with Business Finland, an organization promoting trade, investment and tourism and public financing of related innovation to the Finnish government's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Through this initiative, the two organizations begin to work together to promote the introduction and acceleration of the adoption of technological innovations applied to the healthcare sector, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, telemedicine, data analytics and increased patient engagement.

Recently, a Finnish government and business delegation was in Brazil with the objective of developing relationships in this specific market. This agenda included a visit to Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Porto Alegre, where techtools ventures is leading a Go-to-Market Acceleration Program in the Health Area whose objective is to strengthen and encourage businesses that have solutions to the sector's problems, connecting the healthcare industry with startups in an environment that favors the adoption of innovation in hospitals.

On this occasion, a mapping of business opportunities for the more than 220 Finnish companies in the health sector was started, in their specific areas, to facilitate the conduct of pilot projects that can be validated in Brazil and scaled globally. These healthtechs are already part of techtools ventures' bank of qualified healthcare startups, which already has more than 1,600 companies from 38 different countries to apply systemic innovation in healthcare in a network of hospitals that should reach 200 partners by 2021.

Jeff Plentz, president of techtools ventures, highlights that the time is favorable for Finnish healthtech companies to validate their solutions in the Brazilian market. “According to a study by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), healthcare is one of the most attractive and promising markets globally and, in Brazil, this industry is expected to reach the US$ 232 billion mark in 2021. Currently, the country has the third largest healthcare sector world, which represents a unique set of opportunities for international startups to validate their solutions here. And, as this is a mutual cooperation agreement, we offer another option for Brazilian healthcare startups that want to internationalize”, adds Plentz, adding that the healthcare innovation ecosystem in Brazil already has more than 250 mapped startups .

According to Matti Landin, responsible for the Business Finland office in Brazil, techtools ventures is the right partner to sign this agreement, as it has more than twenty years of experience in the technology consulting segment and has positioned itself in recent years as an organization global impact innovation. “This agreement represents the facilitation of the validation of Finnish solutions in Brazil, promoting the exchange of healthcare solutions that can contribute to the reduction of healthcare costs while improving the delivery of quality of care to Brazilians”, adds Landin.
