goGeo is 50 times faster than foreign competitors and five times cheaper

Develop applications that explore real-time analytics with Geospatial Big Data in one day. With that goal in mind, Vagner Sacramento began to develop an innovative project that quickly turned him into an entrepreneur and creator of goGeo. The solution provides analysis of large volumes of geolocated data and, according to its creators, is capable of competing with global market leaders such as ESRI/ArcGIS and Oracle Spatial, having as a competitive advantage a five times lower cost and the ability to generate results 50 times faster than other technology platforms in the geospatial segment.

"Of all the business data generated, 80% has a spatial characteristic - an address, a zip code -, but we identified that the greater the volume of data, the greater the limitation of the geoprocessing engines to generate maps with useful information on Competitive Market Intelligence or Logistics. This limits the potential for technological innovation of the geospatial applications industry, which is 250 billion dollars, twice the size of the video game industry", explains Sacramento, CEO of goGeo.

The idea of developing a solution to meet this growing market arose from investigations started in 2006, which denoted the performance limitation of the geoprocessing engines of the so-called GIS (Geographical Information System) platforms, the basis for the development of applications that display information on a digital map, such as Waze, Google Maps and Foursquare. The data piqued the curiosity of the PhD in Computer Science.

With R$ 1.5 million in funds raised from economic subsidy projects, in early 2015 Sacramento took the plan off the ground and started goGeo operations offering vertical solutions for the financial (banks and insurance companies) and distributor/ wholesaler. In a few months, projects have already been started with players in these segments. And the reason for this demand is precisely the innovative factor of the geoprocessing platform combined with its reduced cost.

Instead of investing in expensive licenses and large servers, goGeo makes it possible to process large volumes of data using dozens or hundreds of low-cost server machines that together offer greater computing power than any server on the market.

To exemplify the functions of the solution, Sacramento explains that goGeo is capable of generating, in real time, a "Sales Performance Map" from hundreds of millions of financial transactions in a digital bank. "Considering that each banking transaction on a mobile device is geolocated with the latitude and longitude of the user, we have millions of geolocated transactions per day. In a simple and very summarized way, among countless possibilities this can be explored to understand the pattern of consumption behavior and detect fraud, among other data".

With revenues of R$ 1 million forecast for the next six months and reaching R$ 5 million in 2016, Sacramento believes that the brand will soon consolidate itself as the market leader in Latin America for Geospatial Big Data demands. By 2020, the revenue perspective is to reach R$ 75 million, with a global presence. "We are looking for investors who can boost our sales capacity, mainly for international expansion", he says.

The next stage of business development also includes offering the platform to Telecom, Utilities, Mobile, Oil & Gas and Government.
