Adaptive security architecture, business-driven IT and software-defined data center are among the main bets

Sonda Ativas, one of the main providers of managed IT services controlled by the Sonda, Asamar and Cemig groups, points out four trends for Data Center for 2017. The solutions must contemplate the dynamism of the transformations and the day-to-day needs. Thus, the company listed some bets for this year, such as business-oriented IT, adaptive security architecture and software-defined data center.

1 – Business-driven IT

Recent market research shows that approximately 30% of Information Technology spending comes from business units, not the IT department – a trend that is only expected to increase in the coming years. This resource management model provides experienced business professionals with more resources to quickly implement new technology ideas in their industries. “This causes other areas of the company to also influence IT priorities. Such changes encourage Data Centers to adapt to a world that is increasingly flexible, agile and prepared for large volumes of analysis”, explains Daniel Magalhães, Director of Technology at Sonda Ativas.

2 – Adaptive security architecture

With increasing connectivity and device diversity, different types of networks that have never been related are connecting. This process requires a more continuous and adaptable security infrastructure to ensure that companies have access to new mechanisms that prevent cyberattacks. “Information security will play a decisive role in making this new digital world possible. Organizations can no longer rely solely on prevention tools, as hackers increasingly increase their level of sophistication. They must go further, with an adaptive architecture with multiple layers of security, in which monitoring and analytics tools play a central role”, assesses Magalhães.

3 – Software-Defined Data Center

One of the bets of the segment is the Software-Defined Data Center, a model that includes a processing center with almost the entire virtualized infrastructure, including servers, networks and storage. According to the Superintendent of Ativas, the hardware continues to exist based on hosting data, but the services have become completely separate from this type of physical structure. “This allows for increased levels of flexibility, automation and scalability to ensure business agility”, says the Sonda Ativas executive.

4 - Extinction of Data Centers in companies

With the adoption of Cloud providers, the physical Data Centers located inside the companies can practically become extinct. “With the increasing complexity of IT, it will no longer be viable for an organization to maintain a data hosting structure in-house. Because of this, Data Center providers should strengthen in the coming years along with Cloud services”, completes the specialist.
