Solo Network's challenge was to migrate 200 TB of data in record time and safely

The Solo Networkintegrator and implementer of corporate IT solutions, helped the digital transformation of Sinqia, one of the largest providers of technology and services for the financial sector in Brazil.

In full expansion, in mid-2020, Sinqia acquired the pension solution from a large national financial institution, one of the main providers of software and services for the closed pension segment, in an operation of R$82 million. The acquired company's environment was 100% in an on-premises data center and the big challenge was to migrate approximately 200 terabytes of data to Azure in a weekend, ensuring strict data security standards and avoiding competition between migration and production.

Faced with this challenge, Sinqia turned to Solo Network and Microsoft to support the execution of the project. After analyzing the scenario, with the support of the team of Microsoft and Solo Network specialists, it was decided to carry out the migration using Azure Data Box.

The choice for the tool was due to the fact that Data Box devices move data to Azure with ease. Using common copy tools like Robocopy, you can move large amounts of data to Azure when you are limited by time, network availability, or costs. All data is AES encrypted, which makes the procedure more secure, and devices are wiped after upload according to the standards of NIST Special Publication 800-88, revision 1.

“Using Azure Data Box solved the time and security issue we had on the project. It is worth highlighting the importance of having strong and experienced partners such as Solo Network, which makes all the difference in delivering a quality product and/or service to our customers”, says Thiago Campos Pereira, CIO of Sinqia.

In the Sinqia project, – which was one of the pioneers in the use of Azure Data Box – the follow-up and monitoring from beginning to end of the execution were essential for the success of the proposal, with the environment being carefully prepared so that the data could be safely copied , ensuring business continuity, with no impact on the customer.

“Implementation of a pioneering, secure solution in record time says a lot about the high capacity of Solo Network's technical team and the availability of a large company like Sinqia to transform itself digitally, in addition to remaining competitive in the market, adopting cutting-edge technologies to pave the way for data migration”, concludes Max Camargo, CEO of Solo Network.
