The use of computer programs for the advancement of Medicine is a reality and research is constant. A team from the University of Southern California, in the United States, managed to simulate, for the first time, the physical forces involved in the metastasis process, the spread of cancer throughout the body. Using a statistical technique applied to animation programs, the scientists created a program that shows how cancer cells enter the bloodstream, where they spread to the rest of the body.

The team's ultimate goal is to develop a complete simulation of the multiple steps involved in metastasis, giving doctors essential information to try to prevent the progression of the disease in the patient's body.
