Innovatech Telecom created software that blocks cell phone calls in prisons. Tested at the Provisional Detention Center in Mogi das Cruzes (SP), the technology used 100%.

The project had the support of the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep), a promotion agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), which granted funding R$ 1.6 million for the creation of the blocker.

“Finep's support to Innovatech Telecom has been essential for the success of this project, because thanks to it we were able to develop 100% of technology in Brazil, from software and hardware to the production process”, says the company's director, J. Sindi Yamamoto.

As it is completely national, the cost of the product is around R$ 600,000 a unit, consisting of hardware and software, while a similar imported product reaches R$ 1 million. Another advantage is that, unlike other systems with the same purpose, Innovatech's did not interfere with cell phones outside the prison.

The technology works like a call magnet, which attracts and identifies any cell phone or Nextel-type radio connected within the defined area. The system allows you to make calls, but not complete them. It also does not allow calls from outside the prison to be completed.
