The Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Brazilian Software (Softex) was selected to carry out the operational management of the Start-Up Brazil Program, informed the Department of Information Technology Policy of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC). The final result was announced on Monday (25).

With this, Softex will carry out the operational management of the third cycle of Start-Up Brazil, with acceleration between 2017 and 2018. This cycle has R$ 9.7 million to support 50 projects of technology-based start-ups (startups) with up to R$ 200 thousand in grants from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The resources are from the MCTIC budget.

Created by MCTIC in November 2012, Start-Up Brasil brings together a group of actors in favor of technology-based business initiatives. The program aims to support innovative solutions in software, hardware and information technology (IT) services or services that use ICTs as part of the innovative solution.

So far, Start-Up Brasil has already leveraged approximately R$ 103 million in private investments and generated more than 1,200 direct jobs in two acceleration cycles, from 2013 to 2015, when it supported 183 startups, distributed among four groups and from 17 states and 13 countries. The support included IT research and development projects linked to various segments, such as education, health, agribusiness, biotechnology, retail and logistics.
