Launched in November 2012 by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), the program aims to support emerging technology-based companies. Start-Up Brasil is part of TI Maior - Strategic Software and IT Services Program, which elected ICTs among the priority programs to boost the Brazilian economy and is based on five pillars: economic and social development, international positioning, innovation and entrepreneurship , scientific, technological and innovation production, and competitiveness.

Therefore, promoting and supporting technology-based companies is in the entity's DNA ”, analyzes its executive vice president, Ney Leal.

In his view, when taking over the management of the implementation of Start-Up Brasil, Softex adds, in addition to its expertise, the offer of complementary programs in several areas, including innovation and quality. "In the scope of internationalization, we can also highlight the support given to Brazilian companies through our HUB in New York and our commercial office in Singapore", he adds.

Held in partnership with 12 private accelerators located in the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas, Belo Horizonte, Vitória, Porto Alegre, Salvador and Recife, Start-Up Brasil seeks to support nascent national and international companies with up to four years of existence and who develop innovative products / services using software, hardware or IT services.

Start-Up Brasil is in its second edition. Each year, accelerators are enabled, qualified and selected by means of a specific notice, and then two semiannual rounds of selection of the 100 national and international startups will be held, which will be supported by the program per year. The results of the selection of startups in Class 3 were released on September 1st and the next selection of startups will start on September 14th.

Supported startups participate in acceleration programs. In this phase, lasting 12 months, selected startups have access to grants for research, development and innovation in the amount of up to R$ 200 thousand; the investment of the accelerator for insertion in the market, which varies between R$ 20 and 150 thousand; and participate in a series of training and networking events and activities with major national and international companies, as well as with investors; in addition to market access and public procurement programs. Throughout this process, companies are accompanied by accelerators and also by the managers of the Start-Up Brasil program.
