Smart City Expo Curitiba 2019, which will take place on March 21 and 22 and has the institutional support of ABES, already has 54 confirmed speakers for the international congress area. In addition to the first confirmed speakers, such as Brooks Rainwater, director of the Center for City Solutions, and member of the National League of Cities in the United States, and businessman Bibop Gresta, co-founder of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, SCE Curitiba will bring together representatives from cities such as Buenos Aires. Aires (Argentina), Las Condes (Chile), Guayaquil (Ecuador) and Boston (USA).
 
On March 1st, the sale of the third batch of passports for the congress began. The sale is being carried out through the official website of the event: www.smartcityexpocuritiba.com. Access to the exhibition area, where 35 companies will present intelligent solutions and products, is free of charge upon prior registration on the same website.
 
For two days, three conference rooms at Expo Barigui will receive national and international experts from the public and private areas, as well as the third sector. They will bring cases and provoke debates on topics related to smart cities, such as urban planning, mobility, governance, new technologies and sustainability.
 
Solutions around the world
 
One of the new ones confirmed is the Chilean Alejandro Contreras, an industrial civil engineer who led the process of technological transformation at the service of the community in Las Condes, putting into practice a public-private partnership for the development of the smart city.
 
On the other hand, local development and innovation ecosystems will be debated with the presence of Josep Piqué, president of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), which promotes 22@Barcelona, in Spain, as a global reference in knowledge in smart cities; and Tânia Gomes, vice president of the Brazilian Startups Association, founder of GirlBoss Consultoria and also of 33 and 34 Shoes, who join the speaker Alejandro Franco, director of Ruta N, in Medellín, Colombia.
 
Creative economy
 
Ana Carla Fonseca, known as Cainha, is an international reference in the creative economy and also in creative cities. Public Administrator from FGV, economist, Master cum laude in Business Administration, PhD in Urbanism from USP, Cainha wrote the first Brazilian thesis on creative cities. Guest professor at FGV and at the National University of Córdoba, in Argentina, the speaker will share her expectations about the future of cities.
 
city management
 
Coming from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Alfonso Santiago and Laura Silvia Borsato will present solutions on the management of large cities. Director of the Diploma in Smart City at the School of Government, Politics and International Relations at Universidad Austral, Santiago was an advisor to the Congress of the Argentine Nation. He will participate in the panel on “Transitions and interruptions in city management in a digital society”.
 
Laura Borsato, Undersecretary for Development of the Digital Country, is part of the government program that has among its goals to increase the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to enhance the digital, creative and productive capacities of citizens. His talk will be "Citizen Focused Cities and the New Urban Agenda".
 
Guayaquil and Boston
 
A chemical engineer with a master's degree in environmental engineering and more than 15 years of experience in the national and international environmental field, Bolivar Coloma Valverde leads the environmental management of Guayaquil, Ecuador, as Director of Environment, through projects focused on sustainability. It will participate in the debate “Smart and sustainable public services”.
 
Another confirmed speaker is Renato de Castro, Smart Cities expert and Smart Cities ambassador for the TM Forum in London. Member of the board of directors of Leading Cities in Boston (USA), Renato has been to more than 30 countries, giving lectures on smart cities and collaborating with urban projects. At SCEC, he will talk about “Citizen Focused Cities and the New Urban Agenda”.

Other important international names have also been confirmed, such as Markos Major, founder and executive director of the NGO “Ação Pelo Clima Agora”, ecologist, botanist and educator specializing in the restoration of urban watersheds and carbon sequestration; Mila Gascó, Director of Research at the Center for Government Technology, and professor at the University of Albany (USA); Diego Gismondi, Undersecretary of Public Innovation for the Government of Santa Fe, Argentina; Andrea San Gil, director of the Costa Rica Center for Urban Sustainability; and Benjamin de la Peña, head of strategy and innovation at the Seattle Department of Motor Vehicles (USA).
