SAP and Siemens Digital Industries Software announced an expansion of their partnership, enabling the two companies to provide new asset and service lifecycle management solutions. With an initial focus on discrete manufacturing, Siemens will begin offering the SAP® Asset Intelligence Network solution, the SAP Asset Strategy and Performance Management application, and the SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management suite. SAP will provide the cycle management portfolio Teamcenter® service life and software (SLM) solutions from Siemens to facilitate ecosystems of integrated service and asset engineering operations.
The companies plan to provide new cloud services to help industrial equipment manufacturers increase the operational efficiency of critical assets, avoid unexpected downtime, and reduce asset engineering design cycles. These capabilities can help maximize business value across the entire product and service/asset lifecycle and enable new collaborative processes between manufacturers and operators.
Building on the strategic partnership between Siemens and SAP announced in July 2020 with these new solutions, industrial equipment manufacturers can provide new services and business models for installed equipment and help owners and operators use operational information to increase the use of assets, maximizing safety and reducing risk.
“Siemens is helping industrial companies make better decisions by making the connection between IT and TO,” said Cedrik Neike, member of the Board of Directors of Siemens AG and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries. "With this partnership, we will have a true digital thread, which integrates real-time operations data with asset models and virtual products using components from Siemens and SAP to provide operational information."
“Siemens and SAP share the same vision for the future of industrial companies,” said Thomas Saueressig, member of the SAP SE Executive Council of SAP Product Engineering. “This partnership will allow our clients to improve their overall business performance and return on assets. With the advantages of cloud solutions such as the SAP Asset Intelligence Network solution to strengthen collaboration and information exchange, Siemens and SAP can help our customers accelerate their migration to Industry 4.0.”
Siemens' new solutions are designed with a focus on elements of Siemens' Xcelerator™ software and services portfolio, including the Teamcenter® portfolio, MindSphere®, the asset performance management and industrial IoT-as-a-service solution from Siemens, and the low-code Mendix™ platform and DataHub, in addition to the SAP Intelligent Asset Management solution and SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management cloud solutions.
