Fiesp received this Monday (21) more than 100 representatives from industry, commerce, services and agriculture for the official launch of the campaign against the tax increase “Não Vou Pagar o Pato”. Paulo Skaf, president of Fiesp and Ciesp, explained during the event that the campaign was created to make society aware of the tax burden and avoid a further increase in the tax burden.

"We are showing the tax is already on the prices of the refrigerator, smartphone, school supplies", said Skaf at the press conference simultaneous to the launch of the campaign. “School supplies have 40% on average in taxes,” Skaf recalled. Even without knowing it, people pay taxes. “In that fridge of R$ 1,000 he put R$ 400 in taxes”, he exemplified.

“We are not here debating taxes on industry, commerce, services or technology, we are, as Brazilians, horizontally debating the tax that is on the backs of the Brazilian people, Brazilian society, companies, families, which harm Brazil's competitiveness and development so much,” said Skaf. “It's not a Fiesp campaign, it's a campaign by all the entities that are here”, he pointed out.

“What we, entities from commerce, services, agriculture, industry, technology, transport, are doing is saying the following to the government: cut your expenses, settle your accounts, make the fiscal adjustment in a way that is healthy for Brazil”, said Skaf. “And the healthy way for Brazil is for the government to eliminate disservices, overspending,” he added.

Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES, composed the opening table. "We have the mission to support and publicize the campaign. Despite being one of the sectors recognized for its ability to boost the economy, mainly in emerging countries, the Information Technology Sector should suffer another blow. payroll tax and the government has already issued a provisional measure to revoke the Lei do Bem, which should bring back informality to the segment, with a decrease in regular jobs and the collection of other taxes, mainly II, ICMS, IPI, IR and CSLL", warned the leader.
