In this first quarter of 2014, IT companies recorded 27 mergers and acquisitions, an increase of 4% compared to transactions with the same period last year, when there were 26 deals. The data are from the survey carried out quarterly by KPMG, which evaluates 43 sectors of the Brazilian economy.

Of the 27 operations registered between January and March, ten were between companies with Brazilian capital and another ten between companies with foreign capital, acquiring capital from companies established in Brazil from Brazilians (CB1). Transactions CB2 and CB3 registered two trades each, and those of type CB4 totaled three operations (see table below).

"The Information Technology sector maintained its pace, leading the number of operations in Brazil, a fact that has occurred since 2008 in all quarters. It is difficult to imagine that, in the short term, the segment will leave the top of the list", says Luís Motta, leading partner in the Mergers and Acquisitions area at KPMG in Brazil and responsible for the research.
