ABES

The event brings together experts to discuss the measure's effects on the competitiveness and investment capacity of ICT companies.

The Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES) will hold, this Friday (11), at 3 pm, the live “The impact of the increase in IOF on Information and Communication Technology companies”Focusing on the consequences of the increase in the Financial Transactions Tax (IOF) for the sector, the event will bring together renowned experts for a technical and institutional analysis of the topic, addressing the effects of the measure on companies' investment capacity and the challenges arising from Brazil's complex tax system.

ABES's initiative takes place in a context of high institutional significance. Recently, Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) suspended, through a precautionary measure, the effects of decrees on the IOF (Tax on Financial Operations) issued by the Executive and Legislative branches. A conciliation hearing between the two branches was also scheduled for July 15th in Brasília, reinforcing the urgency and importance of the debate.

For Andriei Gutierrez, president of ABES, the debate is essential for the country to build balanced solutions between revenue collection and development. "Brazil has the potential to be a global leader in innovation, but this requires responsible decisions that are sensitive to the impact on strategic sectors. In this context, the increase in the IOF directly affects the predictability and attractiveness of investments in innovation in Brazil. We need a more stable regulatory and tax environment aligned with the new digital economy, one that favors the competitiveness of technology companies," says Gutierrez.

Participating in the panel are Dr. Alex Leite (Lawyer at Ayres Britto Legal Consulting and Advocacy), Dr. Saul Tourinho Leal (Lawyer and partner at Tourinho Leal Drummond de Andrade Advocacy, Dr. Manoel Antonio dos Santos (Legal Director at ABES), Mércia Barbosa (Leader of the ABES Tax Working Group) and Jorge Sukarie (ABES Advisor).

The live broadcast will feature interpretation in Libras and will be a strategic opportunity for entrepreneurs, investors, public administrators, and other interested parties to understand the risks and prospects emerging for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Participation is free, with prior registration. link.
