Applications open until February 2015 and 10 startups will be selected

Senior, one of the largest developers of management systems in Brazil, announced the first edition of Inove Senior, a startup acceleration program. The project is part of the company's strategic planning, which includes growth through new businesses.

To participate, those interested must register by February 10, 2015 at the hotsite inovesenior.com.br. “The submitted idea does not need to include a detailed business plan, but the final product must be software or an application and be capable of scaling”, explains Alencar Berwanger, director of marketing and products.

Senior will pre-select 50 ideas among those submitted. Of these, 20 will be presented to the organizing committee through a “pitch”. The company's goal is to classify 10 ideas that will receive R$ 40,000 each so that their creators can make the system viable within a period of up to nine months. In parallel, Senior will allocate the same volume of investment to cover operating costs during the acceleration.

Young graduates or those still studying administration, social communication, economics, information systems, electrical engineering, computer science or related areas can submit their ideas, considering the following criteria: 1. Technological related to mobility, cloud computing, exchange of experiences between users , social media, big data and internet of things; 2. Global market starting with local action; and 3. B2B business (transactions between two companies) and B2B2C (combined model with transactions between two companies and between the company and the final consumer).

After the first stage of acceleration, which lasts up to nine months, startups that demonstrate high growth potential and an estimated market value of R$ 1 million will receive an additional contribution of R$ 200 thousand from Senior. “We will also work on a reformulated business plan for the new company to continue its growth climb”, announces Alencar.

Florianópolis was the city chosen for this first edition of the program due to its innovation ecosystem – considered one of the best in the country – and its proximity to Senior’s headquarters, which is located in Blumenau.

According to the company's president, Carlênio Castelo Branco, ideas coming from all over Brazil will be evaluated, but it will be necessary for entrepreneurs to work on the idea in a collaborative co-working space defined by Senior together with the accelerator, and this space will be in the capital of Santa Catarina . As the incubator is located in Florianópolis, it is important for the startup to be able to stay there for at least the nine months of development planned. The requirement is to be able to offer close management monitoring by professionals from the incubator and Senior executives. “Initiatives like this drive our culture of innovation and allow us to expand our portfolio of products and services, assuming more risks”, concludes the executive.
