By the end of May 2018, all companies involved in the handling and processing of personal data of citizens of the European Community will have to comply with new legal requirements, established in the regulation known by the acronym GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Thus, Brazilian companies that handle or store personal data of European citizens will also be subject to restrictions imposed by the GDPR.
 
To discuss the topic, the Portuguese Chamber will promote on October 18, 2017, at the entity's headquarters in São Paulo, the seminar “Understand the Impact of the New Data Protection Laws on your Company: Brazil and the European Regulation”, of the 8am to 10:30 am. In addition to the GDPR, the speakers will address the topics: data protection compliance, Data Protection Officer (DPO), insurance against cyber attacks and the right to be forgotten. The meeting has institutional support from ABES.
 
Andriei Gutierrez, Coordinator of the Movement Brasil, País Digital, from ABES, will be one of the speakers, along with Viviane Nóbrega Maldonado, judge of the TJSP - Court of Justice of São Paulo; Renato Opice Blum, lawyer and economist, coordinator of the Digital Law Course at Insper; Cláudio Macedo, founder of Clamapi Seguros Cibernéticos; and Paula Malta, legal manager of marketing and innovation at Raízen.
