Experts from different areas come together to discuss changes and perspectives in the face of the Covid-19 outbreak that transformed the national scene. Online events take place on the 8th, 9th and 15th of April

São Paulo, March 18, 2020 - The historic and delicate moment that Brazil and the world are facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic has led entrepreneurs to adapt to the new economic and social scenario, while increasing the number of attacks cybernetics and, in Brazil, the extension of the entry into force of the General Data Protection Law (Law 13.709 / 2018 - LGPD) to January 1, 2021 is discussed. To help entrepreneurs and associates with information and best practices during this time challenging, ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) discusses these topics in the special series of the webinar “Novos Tempos”. This week, two online meetings are scheduled: CYBER SECURITY, on 4/8, at 2 pm, with specialists and researchers; and GENERAL DATA PROTECTION LAW: CHANGES AND PERSPECTIVES, on April 9, at 6 pm. On 4/15, at 2 pm, ABES will present the webinar LEGAL CHALLENGES, SECURITY AND DIGITAL ECONOMY with specialists in tax systems, contract management, labor legislation, digital economy and certification of contracts and documents. Cybersecurity

Scams using fake news, websites with different types of malware, phishing and also attacks directed at companies, hospitals, governments and institutions committed by hackers. In a time of pandemic, cybercriminals have intensified their actions, with intensive distribution of malicious spam, exploiting people's interest and curiosity for information about Covid-19.

According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), an organ of the United Nations (UN), Brazil ranks 70th in the cybersecurity index. More recent data from the ITU, in a 12-month measurement between 2017 and 2018, indicate that the losses resulting from cyber attacks in Brazil exceeded the mark of US$ 20 billion (more than R$ 80 billion).

General Data Protection Law

Active participant in the debates on the LGPD, ABES brings to the debate the extension of the LGPD, approved in the remote deliberative session of the Senate on April 3. As a result, debates on the risks that the decision represents to data protection for Brazilians have intensified, what the State still needs to provide for the law to come into force and how are the efforts of companies to comply with the legislation. The fines and sanctions were extended to August 2021. The decision still depends on a vote in the chamber and a presidential sanction.

In times of uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the solutions combine creativity, new technologies, process review, accelerating digital transformation through the adoption of new technological tools. At the same time, governments (federal, state and municipal) have been trying to mitigate the economic impacts on companies and reorganize the functioning of businesses, with temporary laws that change labor relations, make the tax payment deadlines more flexible, offer new line options financing, stimulate innovation, define safety and prevention measures in the workplace, among other measures.
