For the connectivity challenges and technological impasses faced today by several economic sectors in Brazil, a unique solution is coming: 5G. Surrounded by expectations, the fifth-generation technology for accessing, processing and distributing data over the network should soon arrive in the country. All its functionalities and benefits will be widely discussed and understood during the second edition of Futurecom Digital Week, which will be 100% digital and will be held between November 8th and 11th. The event has institutional support from ABES. Use the FUTURECOMASSOC20 coupon to get 20% registration discount.
With the theme "think the future, think ahead”, the event will show, in an unprecedented and innovative way, the main 5G applications in Brazil. New to this edition is the Metaverse 1.0 Futurecom, an experience that will change the way you do virtual events. “Metaverso Futurecom is a collective and shared virtual space that enables immersive experiences and interaction between solutions and corporate consumers. A new form of experience and relationship with the market in its most diverse economic and social segments. In it, people can work, learn and socialize. It's here to stay”, highlights Hermano Pinto, director of the Technology and Infrastructure Portfolio at Informa Markets, responsible for Futurecom. sensation to be transported to one of the four connected islands, where visitors can interact with the most diverse technologies and digital transformation solutions.

The lectures and content on digital transformation at the event maintain the same high level as ever and one of the main topics under discussion is the arrival of 5G. “5G extends the traditional concepts of mobile networks (capacity, coverage and quality of service), reinforcing three other dimensions: efficiency, productivity and safety”, explains Hermano Pinto. “For each economic sector, these characteristics are more or less relevant, depending on the required application”, he stresses.
In an essentially connected world like today's, monitoring and controlling resources is definitive when it comes to the success of any industry and branch of the economy. 5G technology comes to make all this possible and much safer, faster and more efficient. 5G enables considerable advances over previous standards as it allows handling more connected devices to meet the demands of connected elements (such as IoT) – an estimated connection density in excess of 1 million devices per square meter. The technology increases connection speed and brings a new level of latency (response in data transmission) which, if it was 60 to 98 milliseconds on 4G, will now be 1 millisecond in this fifth generation and also has greater capacity for bandwidth, necessary for the massive production and circulation of data around the world.
Due to the importance of the arrival of 5G bringing all these big changes, Futurecom Digital Week will detail the impacts of this new technology within the metaverse. The entire revolution that the new generation of data transport will make in large economic segments will be presented on four large islands within the virtual world: Agro Island, Industry 4.0 Island, Start City Island and “Closing the Gap of the Digital Divide” Island (Vila Digital).
Agro Island
Visitors to Ilha Agro in the metaverse will be able to understand and visualize how crops work, coordinated with production according to the season, the use of climatological services connected with drones and tractors working in the field. In the browsing experience, the visitor will be able to interact with the devices presented there. There is, for example, a control tower where the farmer can see the plantation and the legal reserve that he monitors and protects. Applications of 5G in Agro: increased productivity and production; monitoring of agricultural operations, irrigation and climate; use of different types of energy (wind, photovoltaic); identification and agile reaction against pests and diseases; reduction of losses and waste; cost reduction and helps to make sustainability programs viable, reducing impacts on the environment.
Island Industry 4.0
Futurecom's virtual space will show how communication between local and remote machines, integrated with the Internet of Things, enables analysis and diagnosis of events without the need for human intervention, which allows operators to reserve their time for the creation of other projects and innovations. Some items are already a reality in the industry, but will grow exponentially with the implementation of fifth generation connectivity, enabling other technologies of the future. In the world of industry 4.0, the 5G enables computer-integrated production; intelligent maintenance system; interface between machines and the production center controlled by AI and humans, in addition to the humanized living space. “The 5G increases productivity and efficiency by ubiquitously connecting the logistics and production chain. This efficiency is achieved through a much more powerful network connected to Big Data, which collects much more data and processes much more information”, adds the Director of Technology and Infrastructure at Informa Markets.
Smart City Island
By visiting the Smart City Island, it is possible to discover solutions that will be impacted by the entire revolution foreseen in 5G: wireless meters and devices, which transmit information that improve traffic and the management of the city's infrastructure; smart energy grids with dynamic meters and bottleneck identification for more efficient energy consumption; use of digital twins for planning urban structures and equipment, integration of public urban mobility systems and use of renewable energies (such as biomass and solar panels); delivery drones connected to the logistics network; solar powered trash compactors and vehicle charging stations; intelligent lighting poles with flow monitoring and management capabilities, among many others.
Closing the Gap of the Digital Divide Island (Digital Village)
In the remote city presented within the Digital Divide Island within the Metaverse of Futurecom, the participant will have the perception of a world that coexists with the most modern technology. Among the innovations presented are free 5G internet connectivity in schools, public citizenship services and preventive telemedicine. With more speed and connection quality, people can make use of applications that monitor their vital signs and signal physical changes. Thus, when necessary, medical intervention is performed, which represents a better quality of life and even a reduction in costs, since prevention is cheaper than performing major surgeries or heavy medical treatments. The island will also discuss integrated payment methods, which allow speed and traceability and can prevent fraud, as well as services to help the inclusion of citizenship and connected school.
