SMEs that participated in the last edition had a 92% reduction in debt and a 17% improvement in net margin
Sebrae-SP and Serasa Experian joined forces to hold the second edition of Boost Small Business Program. In this new cycle, 120 small businesses, from various segments, and located in the cities of São Paulo, Campinas and Osasco will participate in the initiative, which includes a journey with individual and personalized monitoring to address the pain points identified in the business diagnosis made at the beginning of the program, in addition to providing immersion in relevant topics for all businesses and opportunities for experience exchange and networking among participants.
Over the course of a year, they will receive consulting from Sebrae experts and participate in themed in-person workshops together with other entrepreneurs in the program. As a novelty, the second edition will also have an unprecedented track on ESG to introduce best practices into small businesses.
A market survey conducted by Serasa Experian with 528 MSMEs showed the importance and maturity of this audience in this positive agenda. The data shows that there is still room to improve knowledge about good practices, since 67% of the responding companies are unaware of the meaning of the acronym ESG. However, entrepreneurs are aware of the importance of the subject, since when asked about the impact of adopting the practices on the company's competitiveness, 89% of the interviewees agree with its fundamental role.
The event also contributes to reversing the scenario of economic difficulties, mortality and default, which in August 2024, according to the Serasa Experian Corporate Default Indicator, was 6.9 million companies.
“The program’s objective is in line with our purpose as a company to generate positive social impact on a large scale through entrepreneurship in the country. We know that this is a tough journey, in which entrepreneurs need to master several aspects of managing their business – industry, financial and personnel issues, trends and new market and consumer demands, for example – and often have little exchange of experiences with other entrepreneurs facing the same challenges. This is precisely where we come in, by supporting business owners in seeking greater professionalization and more contact with other companies through the program,” says Paulo Gustavo Gomes, Head of Sustainability & ESG at Serasa Experian.
The impact
In the first edition of Impulsiona Pequenos Negócios, held throughout 2023, a total of more than 5,200 hours were invested in consultancy and workshops for the 119 companies from the 5 states (SP, RS, PR, RJ and PE) that participated until the end of the program.
Among the main results are the improvement of 57% in the competitiveness index in the quality and management tool used by SEBRAE, in addition to the improvement in the companies' net margin by 17% and a 92 pp decrease in debt.
Aline Vaz, owner of Arte Natural Terrariums, a company that participated in the first wave of Impulsiona, considers the program a turning point in her life. “Before, I didn’t have a general and strategic vision of my work and my company,” she reveals. “I work with creativity, so I ended up leaving the financial and administrative aspects aside. With Impulsiona Pequenos Negócios, I was able to schedule and organize everything so that I could dedicate more time to, for example, my clients and my sales.”
Service
To participate in the program, companies must be located in the cities of São Paulo, Osasco and Campinas, or nearby, have annual revenues between R$360,000 and R$4.8 million, and can be from various sectors. The activities of the Impulsiona Pequenos Negócios program will begin in January 2025. For more information, visit the link on here.
