Sebrae Minas will invest more than R$ 36 million in encouraging innovation and technology in micro and small companies (MPEs) in Minas Gerais. The announcement was made by the superintendent director of Sebrae Minas, Afonso Maria Rocha.

By December 2014, 23,821 companies will receive specialized consultancy subsidized by Sebrae Minas to develop innovative products and services through the Sebraetec program. In 2010, the program's investment was R$ 2 million. "In four years, we will increase by 18 times the capacity to provide technology and innovation services to small businesses in the state," he said.

According to the manager of the Access to Innovation and Technology Unit, Anizio Dutra Vianna, the novelty this year is that in addition to MSEs, Individual Microentrepreneurs should also benefit from Sebraetec. “The proposal is scheduled to be evaluated in April by Sebrae Nacional. If approved, more than 4,650 Individual Micro-entrepreneurs in the state will benefit”, explains Anízio.

Sebraetec was created with the objective of encouraging micro and small companies, with annual gross sales of less than R$ 3.6 million, to invest in innovation and become more competitive. The program allows a subsidy of up to 80% of the value of the development of innovation and technology projects for companies interested in modernizing products, processes or services.
