Sebrae will have R$ 45 million, through a public notice (access the link), to invest in funds that want to participate in the project “Capitalizing innovative companies”. “In addition to promoting new practices by micro and small companies, Sebrae will start investing resources in innovative small businesses; we are acting strategically to ensure more competitive companies”, explains the director of Administration and Finance and acting president of Sebrae, Vinicius Lages.

One of the biggest challenges for young innovative companies is access to capital. At least 40% of startups that closed their doors in the last three years pointed to the difficulty of accessing capital as the main reason for this decision. This reality was evident in the research carried out with companies from the InovAtiva Brasil program, the largest Brazilian startup pre-acceleration platform.

The survey surveyed 1,044 companies last December, mainly startups in Information and Communication Technology (31%), Software Development (21%) and Services (18%). Of these companies, 30% informed the decision to close the doors. The survey was carried out by Sebrae and the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), partners in InovAtiva Brasil.

A Small Innovative Business is a company with CNPJ and incorporated as an Individual Limited Liability Company (EIRELI), Limited Liability Business Company (LTDA), Private Limited Company (SA) or Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI). In addition, it must qualify as a micro-enterprise or small business that performs an innovative activity.
