Action addresses issues related to the social deconstruction of the role of women, gender relations and their impact on career and personal life

SAS, a global analytics company, is promoting a diversity program in its Brazilian unit with a focus on valuing the role of women in the corporate environment. Entitled “Empower themselves, Women”, the action addresses topics such as cultural aspects, social construction and self-awareness, among other topics related to the role of women within the organization.

The program was designed by consultant and mentor Vera Regina Meinhard, who has over 25 years of experience as an executive in Brazil and abroad, and specializes in people development and organizational culture. There are about ten sessions held virtually with the participation of 11 company employees, from the most diverse hierarchical levels and areas of expertise.

"The main mission of the program is to bring to the awareness of women that there is a social construction about their role in society, and that this impacts the vision that is made of it in the corporate environment, which needs to be undone", explains the consultant . “The more aware they are of these roles imposed on women, the more they will be able to develop as professionals. It is a process of both self-knowledge and social and historical knowledge in order to allow the creation of strategies for career development. ”

The initiative also addresses the issue of talents and values, reinforcing the importance of tools such as feedback, and with exercises that propose the encouragement of women to speak. The four-hour sessions seek to exchange experiences, share learning and promote integration among women in the company, regardless of their positions. "The important thing is that women connect with each other, so that responsibility and position have less influence in this process", points out Vera Regina.

The program “Empoderem-se, Mulheres” is part of a series of SAS initiatives to promote debates and actions aimed at including diversity in its most different aspects. The company is recognized worldwide for its concern for promoting a healthy and diverse environment - especially in the technology market. In Brazil, at the end of 2019, the company launched the Talent X program, which aims to reinforce SAS culture and values through the development of new concepts related to people.

According to the president of SAS Brasil, Cassio Pantaleoni, the company will continue to be engaged in promoting initiatives related to diversity in the corporate environment throughout this and the coming years. “We defend actions that seek to give a voice to our people, promoting the diversity of gender, race and thought. In Brazil, we are increasingly committed to perfecting the processes that contribute to the dissemination of ideas, values and cultures of the most diverse natures and nuances ”, emphasizes the executive.
