SAS, a global benchmark in Analytics, opened a space to encourage customers, employees, entrepreneurs, academics and other members of the company's ecosystem to develop innovative projects. Named Experience Zone, the environment has experiments that use Data Analysis, IoT, Computer Vision, robotics, etc. Among the highlights is an augmented reality simulator aimed at the retail sector, which shows, for example, heat maps that indicate the places with the greatest circulation of customers and smart shelves that signal when a product is running out or poorly positioned.

“We are delighted to launch Experience Zone. SAS is a company that has innovation in its DNA and we believe that fostering discussion, the development of disruptive ideas and technologies is the best way to continue innovating”, commented SAS Vice President for Latin America, Marvio Portela.

Present at the opening, David Macdonald, Executive Vice President of Sales at SAS, believes that the new space can generate much fruit for the company and its partners. “Just like SAS, our customers are always looking for inspiration, creativity and new ideas. Being outside your natural environment, surrounded by people with different ideas and innovative concepts is a necessity for organizations. Without a space like this, there is no catalytic effect of change, which is fundamental”, he commented.

 Integration with startups

The new SAS innovation center also has a space called SAS Garage aimed at the development of startups, in addition to being a coworking environment for customers and partners.

For David Macdonald, this approach to startups and the way they use technology is very important for SAS and can also generate benefits for large organizations. “It's not just about thinking about the end result of a project with a startup that could generate revenue for SAS. But to contribute to these companies and understand how they use our tools. This can even allow large companies to benefit from this knowledge created and generate more value for their customers”, he concluded.
