BECA SAS 2024 will benefit 30 students from Brazil with the aim of helping them enter the job market in the technology area
SAS, a leader in data and AI, has just opened registrations for BECA SAS 2024, a program that offers free training to university students in Brazil so that they can have a competitive advantage in recruitment processes and find better job opportunities in the technology area. To this end, BECA SAS gives participants access to a set of online and live courses, which will be available from July 8th to 17th, with content related to technologies such as SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Visual Analytics and programming. Registrations can be made on the program website and the application process must be completed by June 14th. Those selected will be informed by the end of June.
Students enrolled in the last two years of their degree in Exact Sciences courses or any area of knowledge in which analysis has a crucial purpose, such as business, economics or social sciences, are welcome. It is recommended to have knowledge in statistics and/or mathematics, and experience in programming languages. Advanced English is necessary to understand some modules.
BECA SAS, which is in its tenth edition in Latin America, but for the first time being offered in Brazil, will include a talent showcase, in which students will have the opportunity to demonstrate the skills acquired by solving a fictitious case. This year, the case will be related to a toy store, and participants will have to make important decisions for the business using analytics, such as which production lines should be discontinued or expanded and which branches will close.
During the solution of this case, students will put Visual Analytics-related skills into practice and will have access to the latest version of the SAS Viya platform. “SAS is constantly committed to free student training and the integration of technology into the curriculum of universities, which are responsible for the workforce of the future”, explains Deborah Vasconcellos, manager of academic programs at SAS in Brazil.
“It is important to remember that this edition of BECA SAS also intends to give special emphasis to the development of essential skills which, together with technological skills, are a determining factor in recruitment processes”, highlights Luigi Barroso, manager of SAS Education and sponsor of the project . After all, the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs 2023 report points out that analytical thinking, creative thinking, mastery of artificial intelligence and the analysis of large amounts of data will be the most sought after skills in 2027.
Selected students will also have access to exclusive lectures given by employees from different areas of SAS. Those who successfully complete the program, including attendance and case study, will receive a digital badge, a certificate, and a voucher for one of the SAS certification exams.
